First Weekend in Vienna

Slow morning here, so I thought I would send an update. I had a pretty interesting weekend. Saturday, I went to the Karlskirche, which was fantastic. You can climb all the way to the top of the dome and look out over all of vienna. I also walked around the Naschmarkt and bought a few things. Oh, and I joined the most expensive gym of my life- but it's only for a couple months and it is two blocks away.

Sunday I decided to take a bike ride using one of the city bikes they now have in D.C. too. I rented one and headed toward the Danube. They have a 13 mile stretch of manmade island in the middle of the river which is all for recreation. I got all the way down to one side of the island and then- my bike broke. really broke. the back wheel came off and the tire locked. these things probably weigh about 75-90 lbs or so. i had to drag it, literally drag it, all the way back to the closest metro, which took about 3 hours. quite an adventure.

then last night part of the outside of a recent filling came off! not very much so i think it will be okay, but very annoying and nerve racking. at least it's not my front tooth.

i've just been told about some wonderful hiking close to the city by the wineries, so i think that is where i will head this weekend
