Backtracking a bit...Anna's first blog

I may go back in time a bit for my first post. The day before Anne arrived was the 30th anniversary of the United Nations in Vienna and that meant free tour day! So I went to Matt's office with him to see his amazing view, then toodled around the Danube (this is Matt's building - the box at the top is where all the magic happens) before meeting him at lunch to go on the tour. Due to Matt's impressive badge, we swept past the long line of people waiting and were ushered right in. Well maybe not quite like that but it was cool to skip the line, and to see so many people excited about the tour. Our group had people from several countries including a group of women from Colombia and a man and his little daughter from Afghanistan. Being in that group and hearing about the UN's mission was moving, as was seeing the conference rooms where the country reps. sit and make (or not) such huge decisions. Here is Matt in one of those rooms:

Very seriously composing a grocery list.

Here's a model of the building - this design won because every office gets natural light:

  1. Hi Anna, This is so fun. Do continue to do this - it will be the greatest thing for you and your family to see and hear what you are doing. Vienna sounds like such a cool time for both of you. I do wish I were there, but sometime soon, I shall come. Life here goes on for me - much to do - exercises which are super important and the balance thing. Have fun. Love you Suzy
